As mentioned last time, Hong Kong people are forced to stay in Hong Kong during the summer holidays, so parents may wish to create their own local tours for their children, which will greatly enhance the parent-child relationship. If you want to make the trip more realistic and engage your children, you may want to hire a coach to make the transportation process easier and quicker, so you don’t have to worry about changing buses and carry your children home when they fall asleep on the way. There are different modes of coach hire to suit your itinerary, so it will be easier to plan your trip if you know what to expect.
There are three modes of coach hire, namely single trip, round trip, and hourly rental, details are as follows.
- Single trip
This means a single journey with a start and finish point, and can also include a stopover. There is no waiting time, so if a customer asks the driver to stop and wait for other people to board the coach over 15-minute time limit specified in the booking contract, a waiting fee will be charged.
- Round trip
This means including both the outbound and return journeys, e.g. A to B for the outbound journey and B to A for the return journey, or C to A for the return journey. As with the one-way mode, there is no waiting time and only pick-up and drop-off arrangements can be made, after which an overtime charge will be levied.
- Hourly rental
This means that the vehicle is hired at a specific time. Different from single trip and round trip, passengers can leave their belongings in the vehicle for the duration of the hire. Simulated scenarios
Scenario 1: I work for a social welfare organization and organize an outing on a Sunday morning. I need a coach to take participants to a designated location and passengers
We suggested that you could choose to hire a one-way bus as this event would only pick up passengers in the morning, but when planning your trip, please allow time to meet up and make sure that you start at the agreed driving time to avoid extra charges due to waiting overtime.
Scenario 2: I work at a school and am responsible for organizing school events and need to hire a coach for a school trip, the whole group will depart from the school on the day and will also be dismissed at the end of the day at school as well.
In this case, you can use the round trip option, as there is a big difference between the departure and return times. However, please note you may cannot get the same coach on return trip, so all your belongings should not be left on the coach to avoid loss.
Scenario 3: My partner and I are getting married next year and need to hire a coach to take bridesmaid, groomsmen and all our guests to and from the dinner party.
We suggested you to hire a 28-seater coach to take your bridesmaid and groomsmen, so that you can leave the wedding decorations on the coach if you need to take wedding photos with them elsewhere. For guests, you can use the round trip method and arrange for pick up and drop off at a designated location.
